Anti-bush Fire Campaign Launched at Ajuom

Enchi (W/R) Feb.27 GNA – Mr Kingsley Ofori-Asante, District Chief Executive of Aowin-Suaman, has cautioned palm wine tapers, game poachers and cigarette smokers to be careful about their activities in order not cause fires outbreak.

Mr Ofori-Asante who gave the warning when launching the district anti-bush fire campaign at Ajuom near Enchi, said anybody caught causing bush fire would be severely dealt with.

He said indiscriminate bush burning has lead to the destruction of the forest and advised farmers to consult fire volunteer squads before burning weeds on their farms.

Mr Morgan Larweh, Assistant Regional Fire Officer in-charge of the Western Region, urged fire volunteers to assist the people in fire prevention and management.

He asked chiefs and farmers to co-operate with fire volunteer squads to enable them to perform their duties effectively.
