Another fire: 9 shops, one vehicle destroyed in Kumasi

9 shops and one vehicle have been destroyed in yet another inferno at Club 600 within the Suame Magazine, a popular industrial and manufacturing hub in Kumasi, the Ashanti regional capital.

Luv FM’s Prince Appiah reports that the fire which started around 5:30 am on Thursday razed a vulcanising shop, a second hand tire shop, a car battery shop and other shops located within the Club 600 vicinity.

Fire officials gathering information at the scene have declined to comment, says Prince Appiah.

But shop owners who spoke to Luv FM said they suspect the owner of the car battery shop of causing the fire inadvertently.

The shop owners are certain the fire was triggered by some fluctuations in the car battery shop since the owner of the shop usually leaves his charging equipment on overnight.

The fire is believed to have caused the destruction of goods and properties running into millions of the Ghana cedis.

The owner of the shop that deals in second hand tires said just last Wednesday, he had taken consignment of goods worth over Gh¢100,000.

In June of this year, fire gutted several shops in the same area.
