Another building collapses

A two storey building collapsed on Saturday night at Asene Dzornshie near Old Accra or Bukom Square.

The accident occurred during intermittent rains in the night.

Eyewitnesses told XYZ News that no one was trapped in the rubble, and there were also no casualties.

The building is said to be an old edifice in the area.

It brings to two, the number of buildings that have collapsed in the country in less than a week.

A three-story structure collapsed in the Ashanti regional town of Obuasi on Thursday.

Incidentally, no one was trapped under the rubble or killed.

However, one woman sustained some injuries.

In November last year, a six-story department store belonging to the Melcom Group of Companies collapsed killing 14 and trapping scores.

Nearly 80 of the victims were rescued from the rubble.

Also in April this year, three people died when a three storey-building at Krofrom, a suburb of Kumasi, collapsed on them during a downpour.

Seven were rescued from the rubble, and five sustained serious injuries.
