Anomabu fort for tourist site

Anomabu (Central Region) 11 Oct. 1998 Mr Kojo Yankah, Central Regional Minister, said plans are far advanced to develop the fort at Anomabu into a tourist site.

The regional minister announced that a tourism development committee has been set up to research into the lives and works of prominent personalities of Anomabu including George Ekem Ferguson and Kuntu Blankson. He said a museum would be opened there to attract tourists.

The regional minister urged assemblymen and the town’s elders to be transparent in all their endeavours to avoid conflicts. Mr Yankah was addressing a durbar of the chiefs and people of Anomabo traditional area at their annual ”Okyir” festival at Anomabu

The Omanhene of Anomabo, Nana Amonoo the Eleventh, appealed for the establishment of a youth vocational centre for unemployed youth in the area.

The First Lady, Nana konadu commissioned a 30 million- cedi market project sponsored jointly by the European Union and the government of Ghana at Anomabu.
