Ano North N.P.P Primary and Akuako Adiyaah

The unfolding controversy about some elected N.P.P parliamentary candidates in the forthcoming parliamentary and presidential elections demand that the National Executive committee of the party acts swiftly to avert potential court injunctions or disqualification of some candidates and eventual voter revolt in the general election “skirt and browse”|.

Indeed, if the ‘EC had no particulars of a registered voter, in the person of Richard Akuoko Adiyaah, or whatever form the name takes, be it Akuoko Adiyaah Richard or Adiyiaah Akuoko Richard, in its register’ as referenced in a letter dated July 18, 2008, No. C/EC.04/SF.15/TJ (1)/7, then the candidacy of Akuako Adiyaah is fraudulent and illegal. The people of Ahafo Ano North will not relent in correcting the fraud masterminded by the constituency executives with the complexity of the N.P.P vetting committee in the Ashanti region. Why did they over look

*the requirement that the aspiring candidate meets the requirements of qualification and eligibility set out in article 94 of the Constitution of the republic of Ghana and articles 3 and 11 among others of the party’s constitution? *

The N.P.P must live up to its legacy of upholding the rule of law by disqualifying Akuako Adiyaah, who was elected in the primary held at Tepa on the 12th of May 2008, if the purported letter from the EC is proven. Adiyaah, must not be allowed to benefit from his fraud by failing to disclose information about his eligibility under the electoral laws of Ghana to be MP by taking advantage of the forthcoming voter registration exercise. His election on the 12th of May 2008 remains illegal and cannot be corrected by his imminent registration when the exercise begins soon. The sooner the N.P.P acts, the better to avert legal action.
