Angry Youth Set Military Vehicle Ablaze

Angry youth in the northern regional capital, Tamale, late last night set a military armored patrol vehicle ablaze in a suburb of the municipality called Sakasaka. Joy FM correspondents say the mob action occurred minutes after the military vehicle run into a Benz bus.

The Security agencies in Tamale are investigating the incident. No deaths have been recorded but a few injured persons who were in the Benz bus have been sent to the Hospital.

The accident occurred when the streets of the municipality had been cleared of people as a curfew is being observed under the state of emergency imposed on the Dagbon Traditional Area.

But soon after the accident occurred, a large number of young people came out of their home and set fire to the armored vehicle. This morning a team of police and military officers visited the scene of the incident and towed the armored vehicle to the barracks.

Reports say the arms compartment was not affected by the fire. Meanwhile there is heavy security presence in the area. Situation in the Dagbon township has become very volatile following the murder of the Ya Na Yakubu Andani and abut 40 others.
