Angolan President arrives in Ghana

Accra, June 21, GNA – Angolan President Jose Eduardo Dos Santos, accompanied by his wife Anna, arrived in Accra on Monday for a two-day State visit.

He was met on arrival by President John Evans Atta Mills, Ministers of State and other dignitaries. Despite the early morning rains, anthems of the two countries were played amidst firing of a 21-gun salute. A guard of honour was mounted by three officers and 96 men from Firs t Infantry Battalion and 48 Engineers Regiment, with the Ghana Army Central

Band in attendance.

Rebecca Osei Mensah, a class five pupil from Morning Star School in Accra presented a bouquet to President Santos, while five-year-old kindergarten pupil from New World Preparatory School, Eugenia Hator, presented a bouquet to his wife.

An itinerary drawn for the visit include a courtesy call on Presiden t Mills at the Jubilee lounge, a luncheon at the Osu Castle and wreath layi ng ceremony at the Kwame Nkrumnah Mausoleum. The Angolan First Lady and her Ghanaian counterpart are also expecte d to hold talks. This visit is historic, being the first State visit by President Dos

Santos to Ghana.
