Anglican Diocese raise C150mn for Bishop’s Lodge

Akim Oda (E/R), Oct. 27, GNA – The Koforidua Diocese of the Anglican Church on Sunday raised 150.6 million cedis in cash and ten million cedis in pledges at a Harvest held at the Akim Oda St. Andrews Anglican Church.

The harvest had a target of 800 million cedis towards the completion of the new Bishop’s lodge for the Diocese as well as a livestock farm and other diocesan enterprise projects at Osabene, near Koforidua.

The construction of the new Bishop’s lodge was started in 1997 and expected to be ready by the middle of December this year. In a sermon, the Bishop of the Diocese, Archbishop Robert Okine, said Jesus Christ did not assure Christians of paradise on earth by merely becoming Christians.

He, therefore, called on Christians to stand firm and live according to the teachings of their faith, despite the hardships of life, so as to “win the ultimate prize of eternal life in Heaven.”
