Anglican Church honours 40 staunch members

Ajumako Bisease (C/R) June 22 GNA – The President of the Central Regional House of Chiefs, Daasebre Kwebu Ewusie VII, has appealed to Christians to assist the government in its efforts to fight corruption and indiscipline in the society. Daasebre Ewusie, who is Omanhene (paramount chief) of Abeadze Dominase and also a member of the Council State, noted that more than 60 per cent of the nation’s population are Christians and therefore their lifestyle must influence the rest of the people. The Council of State Member said this at a special ceremony organised at the Saint Luke Anglican Church in Bisease, where 40 staunch members of the church were honoured for their contribution towards the growth of the mission.

The ceremony formed part of activities marking the church’s 70th anniversary celebration of its establishment in 1939. The Omanhene of Owirenkyi Traditional Area, Nana Pra Agyensaim VI, who chaired the function, urged priests of the church to continue to preach the gospel to win more souls for God. The award winners include Veneral William T. Morgan, the first Parish Priest of the church who is now the Omanhene of Wassa Fiase Traditional Area with the stool name, Osagyefo Dr Kwamena Enimil VI. The Very Reverend .E. Williams, Archdeacon of the church in Saltpond, said intercessory prayers for peace, stability and prosperity of the nation. Rev. Father Joshia M. Abadoo, Bisease Anglican Parish Priest, said the church had adopted 200 pupils to sponsor their education until they attain 21 years of age under a programme dubbed, “First Anglican Child Development Centre.” 22 June 09
