An Islamic Scholar urges Muslims to cultivate the habit of reading

Sunyani(B/A), March 04, GNA – Sheikh Ishaak Nuamah, an Islamic Scholar has called on Muslims to cultivate the habit of reading and writing to contribute and succeed in the competitive, challenging and knowledge-based world.

He said since the art of reading and writing was at the heart of human civilization, it was imperative for Muslims to invest their resources in lucrative rather than unproductive ventures to improve their living standards.

Sheikh Nuamah made the call at the launching of two new books he authored in Sunyani at the weekend.

The books were, 93Living Islam” and 93The Road to Success”. Living Islam outlines the five main principles of Islam including, the faith that Allah is one and Mohammed as the last Prophet, reciting the five daily prayers, how to fast in the month of Ramadan, observing Zakat or giving charity to God and lawful income to undertake pilgrimage to Mecca.

The Road to Success teaches how a Muslim could overcome problems in the society to succeed in life.

Sheikh Nuamah, said an individual’s success depended on the effective and efficient utilisation of time to take advantage of developments in the world.

Dr Alhassan Mahama, Sunyani Municipal Veterinary Officer, launching the books, commended the author for the books that would serve as a referral and research material for the youth and future generation. He called on Muslim youth to let the books become a source of inspiration for them to achieve greater laurels in their endeavours. Alhaji Dr Muhammed Bin Ibrahim, Brong-Ahafo Regional Director of Health Services, appealed to Muslims to let their lives and marriages be a reflection of their relationship with Allah to change the negative perceptions people had about Muslims.
