Kwamoso(E/R), Aug.19, GNA – Mr Edward Adu-Aboagye, Akuapem-North District Chief Executive on Friday inaugurated an 80-million-cedi library project for Holy Hills Complex School at Kwamoso, a farming community near Mamfe-Akuapem.
Ms Catherine Hughes 25, a Cancer Research Scientist in the United Kingdom, who was a volunteer teacher at the school in January, this year, financed the project.
Mr Adu-Aboagye stressed the need for every child to be given formal education to face the challenges in society and therefore, called on parents to take up the challenge to ensure that their children were well educated.
He appealed to children within Kwamoso community and its environs to take advantage of the library to cultivate the habit of reading to become useful citizens to their communities and country. Nana Kwame Donkor, Chief of Kwamoso urged parents in the community to demonstrate their appreciation for the project by encouraging their children to patronise the library regularly and study hard to improve upon their performance at the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
Ms Hughes said she decided to raise funds to support the project from UK to complement efforts of the people who initiated the project but were constrained by funds when she came to teach at the school. She later presented assorted books donated by her former school, Bramcote High School and the Nottingham community to the library. Reverend Fianko Bekoe Proprietor of the school said it was established in 1998 with six pupils and two teachers to provide good education to children at Kwamoso and nearby communities.
