Ampong’s Death Threat: I Don’t Concen Myself With Trivialities – Sir John

The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, (NPP) Kwadwo Owusu Afriye, has described the death threat claims of Michael Ampong, a communications director in the party, as trivial.

Mr Ampong had earlier told XYZ News that he had received death threats after he openly criticized some party leaders for lobbying for Nana Addo’s candidature for election 2016.

However, Mr. Afriye, popularly known as Sir John, dismissed the claims, stating that the NPP was noted for promoting free speech. “He (Ampong) is free to come into the NPP office to discuss his concerns anytime; we do not have any issues with him. When we are trying to find solutions to our party’s issues, I don’t like to concern myself with these trivialities” he said.

But Mr Ampong has described Sir John’s comments as irresponsible. He said death threats of members of the party should be a matter of concern.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service on Wednesday, invited two people for questioning over the incident.
