Amoateng: Experienced Drug Trafficker?

…He faces fresh charges
Latest report on the US court trial of Ghanaian MP, Eric Amoateng, indicates that he faces another indictment by the Grand Jury of the Eastern District of New York where the case is being tried.

This latest indictment filed on March 27, implicates Eric Amoateng in an earlier illegal drug trafficking in December 2003.

Mr. Amoateng and his accomplices are alleged to have conspired to import a controlled substance suspected to be heroine into the United States between December 2003 and November 12 2005.

Joy News correspondent, Kofi Abotchie, who is covering the case says the latest charges have already been communicated to Mr. Amoateng?s lawyers.

According to JOYNEWS sources, this latest eight-count indictment supercedes the earlier charges against the Nkoranza north MP.

The document, which was filed at the Clerk’s office in Brooklyn on March 27, implicates Eric Amoateng in an earlier illegal drug trafficking in December 2003.

Count one says ” In or about and between December 2003 and November 12 2005, both dates being approximate and inclusive, within the Eastern District of New York and elsewhere, the defendant Eric Amoateng, together with others, did knowingly and intentionally conspire to import a controlled substance into the United States from a place outside thereof, which offense involved one kilogram or more of a substance containing heroin, a scheduled 1 controlled substance, in violation of Title 21, United States code, section 952a.

Details on the counts would be made available later.
