Nsawam, April 22, GNA- Mr. Mark Amoako Dompreh, a 45 year old business executive based in Canada was on Monday elected by the Akuapim South branch of the National Democratic Congress as their parliamentary candidate at a delegate’s congress. Mr. Dompreh who was elected in absentia, polled 174 votes as against Mr. Thomas Kissiedu Okine, former District Chief Executive (DCE) of Akuapim Akropong during the NDC regime who had 119 votes. Mr. Amoako Dompreh in a speech read on his behalf expressed appreciation to the delegates for the trust reposed in him and pledged his commitment to work hard during the campaign to win the seat from the NPP during the December 7 elections. Alhaji Razak Owusu, Chairman of the Akuapem South NDC and the organizer, Madam Evelyn Korang called on the loser to support the candidate to fight together to win the seat from the NPP. Mr. William Coffie Lettu, electoral officer for the Akuapim South who declared the winner urged them to accept the results in good faith. Nana Aboah Kwame, Apedwahene of Aburi Akuapim, who chaired the function called on them not to use any abusive words during their campaign against any other party since “we are all Ghanaians.” He said Ghana only needed development and peace and asked them to work towards those goals.
