Amoako Baah declines gov’t appointment

Former Head of the Political Science Department at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Dr. Richard Amoako Baah, has declined to serve as board Chairman for the Kumasi Polytechnic.

Dr. Baah was appointed by the Government through the Education Ministry to serve as Board chairman of the Kumasi Polytechnic earlier this year but declined the offer because he saw the move as a political strategy to corrupt him with fat money.

In an exclusive interview with Ultimate FM’s Isaac Justice Bediako, the outspoken lecturer said he rejected the offer mainly because the deputy Minister in charge of tertiary education, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, did not follow the right procedure.

“They called in the middle of the night and asked me to come in the middle of the night…to Accra the next day, and I asked for what and they said to be sworn in as the chairman of the board of Kumasi Poly.

“But I said no, that is not how it is done…if you want me to do it, write a letter to me officially, I receive the letter, I read it, I assess myself is this what I want to do, can I do a good job, the I respond to it in the affirmative then I come but don’t just call me in the middle of the night and ask me that I should proceed to Accra the next day I won’t do it,” Amoako Baah said.
