Techiman (B/A), June 25, GNA – Prof Raymond A. Silverman, Programmes

Director of Museum Studies of the University of Michigan, has called on Techiman Municipal Assembly and the Traditional Council to speed up with the construction of the Techiman Nkwantanaso cultural centre to attract touri sts to the area. He said investment in the cultural centre was important as it would enable both local and foreign tourists to know the cultural practices of the chiefs and people of Techiman. Prof. Silverman said this at a meeting with the committee members of

the centre at Ohene Ameyaw Palace in Techiman.

He said the University of Michigan was promoting the development ofthe centre through a website. Nana Baffour Asare Twi-Brempong, the Adontenhene, deplored lack of physical infrastructure development at the centre that would move artisans to start business there. The chief, who is Chairman of the centre, said the provision of sructures, electricity, toilet facilities and a ware house are some of the challenges facing the project. Nana Twi-Brempong reiterated the need for the traditional council and the municipal assembly to join hands to put up temporal structures to rake in revenue that could enhance the socio-economic development of the municipality.
