American NGO donates to school

Kumasi, March 19, GNA-The Thompson Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) in the United States of America on Friday donated 10 million cedis to the Ampabame Catholic primary and junior secondary schools at a ceremony in Kumasi.

The donation is to pay for the school fees and cater for other needs of the school population from the pre-school to the JSS for a period of one year.

Reverend Thomas H. Thompson, President of the Foundation, who is the presiding pastor of Phillips Church and Phillips Exeter Academy in the US, who made the presentation, said the gesture is to help support education at the basic level, which is important in determining a good future for children.

He said the foundation also intends to establish a computer resource centre, which would be stocked with new computers to enhance teaching and learning of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the school.

Rev Thompson also pledged the Foundation’s readiness to sponsor brilliant pupils to the tertiary level.

Mr. Paul Amoako-Agyemang, headmaster of the school, who received the donation expressed appreciation to the Foundation and promised to use the money for its intended purpose.
