Gomoa Oguaa,(C/R), Aug. 19, GNA – Mr. Philip Cumming, a representative of the US Embassy in Accra, has inaugurated GH¢10,000 bakery for the people of Gomoa Oguaa in the Central Region. The Embassy provided GH¢6,000 while the community topped it up with GH¢4,000.

Mr. Cumming said the project was part of the Embassy’s social responsibility to improve the living conditions of some Ghanaians. The project, he said, would also provide job opportunity for the youth, especially girls and arrest their drift to the cities to seek greener pastures.

Mr. Cumming advised the people to take very good care of the machines to prolong their lifespan.

Mr. Eric Mensah, General Secretary, Gomoa Oguaa Youth Association, said there were plans to convert the project into a vocational training institute to benefit a larger number of people. He commended the people of the town for providing labour and also for donating money for the project.

Mr. Ebenezer Barnes, the organizer, said 300 loaves of bread was being produced daily and said the number would be increased as soon as their contacts with boarding schools in the area produced positive results.

Nana Dantse II, Chief of the town, expressed gratitude to the Embassy for their gesture and assured them of a lasting cooperation between the Gomoa Oguaa community and the Embassy. He promised to ensure the regular maintenance of the facility.
