AMERI deal: Philip Addison has no locus – John Jinapor

A former Deputy Minister for Power, John Jinapor, has debunked rumours that the AMERI deal will be abrogated, adding that Philip Addison is not a government official and does not speak for the government.

A 17-member committee chaired by lawyer Philip Addison has proposed a renegotiation of the deal and that if the Dubai based company refuses the offer, government should renounce the agreement on grounds of fraud.

Speaking with Ekourba Gyasi on Atinka AM Drive Wednesday, John Jinapor mentioned that Philip Addison has no locus as far as government policy and decision making is concerned.

According to him, decisions such as abrogating contracts are made at the highest level of which Addison is not part.

He added that the AMERI contract has been accepted by Parliament and all other bodies involved and that it does not lie within the ambit of Addison to decide whether or not contracts should be abrogated.
