Amenfi West is safe seat for us; vote buying needless – NDC

The ruling National Democratic Congress(NDC) says the opposition New Patriotic Party(NPP) claim of vote buying by the umbrella family ahead of the Amenfi West by-election slated for Tuesday is vile propaganda being propagated by the Danquah-Busia-Dombo tradition.

The Western Regional Secretary of the NDC, Joseph Nelson said the allegations made by the NPP is the modus operandi of the opposition party anytime they see themselves losing in elections.

The NPP has accused the incumbent National Democratic Congress (NDC) of going round and distributing fertilizers to influence the electorates ahead of Tuesday’s by-election in Amenfi West constituency.

It said all over the enclave some heavily loaded KIA trucks are being moved around, especially, when the lights go off at odd times to essentially distribute fertilisers to local farmers.

But the Western Regional scribe of the NDC party reacting to the claims of the opposition NPP in an interview with Accra-based Citi FM said this was sheer reports of falsehood being perpetrated by the elephant family, saying it has been winning elections in the constituency for so long in many years and it do not have to distribute fertilizers to be able to win the by-election.

“The NDC has done so well in this constituency and has embarked on many projects for the people. We’ll not collude with the ECG to commit electoral fraud in darkness.”

The seat became vacant following the death of the NDC Member of Parliament, John Gyetua in October this year.

The two main parties have both stormed the constituency since last week to canvass for support for their respective parliamentary candidates ahead of the polls on Tuesday, December 15, 2015.
