Manso-Nkwanta (Ash), July 4, GNA – The implementation of Amansie West District Health Insurance Scheme (DHIS) will take off on August 1, Mr Ben Kwakye-Adeefe, the acting District Chief Executive has announced.
He said, so far the district had collected 240 million cedis from 3,012 registered members as premium.
Launching the scheme at Manso-Nkwanta at the weekend, Mr Kwakye-Adeefe said the district expects to register about 35,422 people and therefore appealed to them to register and pay their premium to enable them to enjoy quality medical care when its operation takes off.
He said the assembly had given the staff of the scheme the needed logistics to ensure the successful operation of the scheme and therefore called for the establishment of a district hospital to make health care delivery complete.
Mr Oscar Asare Andoh, Manager of the scheme, said 605 out of the number of people who have registered have made part payment and therefore appealed to them to pay in full before the scheme takes off and urged those who have as yet not registered to do so. Mr Joseph Adomako, the District Director of Health Services, said when the scheme becomes operational, it will reduce reported cases of preventable diseases and number of deaths.
