Fenaso Number Three (Ash), Jan 24, GNA- The Amansie East district, one of the 65 districts selected to operate the National Youth Fund on a pilot basis, has received 250 million cedis from the fund. Mr P.E. Ofosu, the District Youth Co-ordinator, who announced this, said the money would be used to assist the youth who had acquired some technical skills, those trained in agriculture and others working on cassava plantation.
Inaugurating the all Northerners Association at Fenaso Number Three in the Amansie East district on Tuesday, Mr Ofosu asked the youth who had technical skills and interested youth groups to avail themselves of the opportunity.
He, however, cautioned that the money was not a gift and advised those who would benefit from it to be mindful that they would repay it. Mr Ofosu commended the government for instituting the fund pointing out that it was the first time to institute a National Youth Fund.
The NPP government is the only government, which has a clear vision for the youth of the country since independence.
He asked all youth associations, other social clubs and organisations to register with the National Youth Council (NYC), pointing out that no youth association or club can operate without registering with the NYC.
Mr Ofosu advised the newly inaugurated association to refrain from chieftaincy matters and rather concentrate on project, which will enhance the development of the community.
Mr Kofi Gyimah, chairman of the association, urged the members to embrace the President’s Special Initiative on cassava. He called for unity among the members to enhance the development of the community.
Mr Maxwell Appiah, assemblyman for the area, asked the association to educate their people particularly their members to refrain from early and indiscriminate sex.
