Amanful Assemblyman refuses to handover to successor.

Takoradi, April 29, GNA- Almost six months after loosing his position as the Assembly Member for Amanful West electoral area in Takoradi, Mr. Charles Danso has allegedly refused to handover to his successor or render accounts to the community.

This is said to be creating tension among the supporters of the former Assembly Member and those of the incumbent, Mr. Peter Etti Arthur. Mr. Arthur said communal labour to improve sanitation in the area could not be organised because equipment used to undertake such activities were still in the custody of Mr. Danso.

All efforts to get his predecessor to handover the items that belonged to the community, including wheelbarrows, shovels, rakes and spades proved futile.

Mr. Arthur also accused the former Assembly Member of refusing to render accounts to the people.

He also spoke against the present arrangements whereby the management of public toilets in the area had been given to some people, including Mr. Danso, saying that this had deprived the community of revenue for development.

When contacted, Mr. Danso explained that even though he was prepared to meet the community and account for his stewardship, he had received many threat of assault allegedly from supporters of his successor, hence his inability to appear before the public. He said he was ready to appear before the community if his security would be guaranteed.
