AMA will not relocate markets in the Metropolis – Vanderpuije

Accra, Dec. 6, GNA – Mr Alfred Vanderpuije, Mayor of Accra, on Monday said the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) had not signed any contract for the sale of any market in the Metropolis or for relocation. Addressing a press conference in Accra, Mr Vanderpuije said government was concerned about the development of people and would not do anything to inconvenience traders.

Mr Vanderpuije said AMA was concerned about the sanitation, drainage and security problems in the markets and would be renovated, to ensure congenial atmosphere for trading. “AMA would not displace traders but work hand-in-hand with them to create more space for them to trade, “he said. 6 Dec. 10
