AMA rounds up stray animals and fines owner

Accra, Nov. 22, GNA – The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) special task force, in collaboration with the police, have rounded up stray animals in some part of the Accra Metropolis and the owners were fined GHC 43 each per goat or sheep.

Dr Simpson Anim Boateng, AMA Public Health Director, told the GNA inan interview that 41 animals were rounded up at Bubiashie, Odokor, Chorkor, Darkuman, James Town and Banana Inn.

He said the exercise would continue to rid Accra of animals roaming about on ceremonial streets creating nuisance.

Dr Boateng said advices, notices, education and several warnings to t= he owners to relocate their animals had not been heeded hence the exercise. He advised those keeping cows in their homes in the metropolis to relocate them or have them confiscated and sold. 23 Nov. 09
