AMA reminds taxi drivers to wear prescribed uniform

Accra, Jan. 3, GNA – The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) on Thursday reminded taxi drivers operating in the metropolis to wear the prescribed uniform of sea blue shirts over blue-black trousers when driving, in accordance with a directive it gave early last year. A statement in Accra signed by Mr I T Adjovu, Metro Coordinating Director, said the directive would be strictly enforced to the letter with effect from January 10, 2008.

It said the directive was in accordance with AMA Bylaws 2007 and Section 75 of the Second Schedule of the Local Government (AMA) (Establishment) Instrument 1995, L.I. 1615.

“It is expected that taxi drivers and owners will cooperate fully with the Assembly to achieve decency and orderliness in the taxi business.
