AMA ranked 37th in 2015 districts league table

The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has been ranked 37th in a 216-district league table released for 2015.

The second league table of districts in Ghana was compiled by the United Nations Children’s Fund (Unicef) in collaboration with Center for Democratic Development (CDD) Ghana.

Among the indicators considered for the compilation are education, sanitation, health, security and governance within the districts.

Greater Accra Region’s Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA) and La Nkwantanang-Madina Municipal Assembly led the pack on 1st and 2nd respectively, pushing the Region to Number One on the regional rankings.

AMA, which has jurisdiction over the country’s capital, however, came 5th in Greater Accra after Tema, La Nkwantanang-Madina, Ashaiman and Shai-Osudoku.

Bottom of the district league table is Gomoa West in the Central Region. Last year’s bottom-placed district, Karaga, moved a place up to 215th.
