AMA needs help to develop markets in Accra – Okoe Vanderpuije

Member of Parliament for Ablekuma South Constituency says there is the need to build more trading centres and develop the existing ones to make trading safe and comfortable for traders.

The former mayor of Accra said trading centres such as Makola make the country a lot of money but they are in terrible conditions.

He said, “millions and millions of money go through Makola but the conditions in which they do is very bad” adding that investor support is needed to put various market centres in better conditions as AMA cannot do it alone.

“AMA cannot find that money to invest in our traders, so we need to build more trading centres, we need to build more communities of centre of excellence for our traders so that when it rains they are not working in muddy conditions. AMA needs helps so I would like to see them invest in Makola or other sectors of our city where our traders can have better places to do business,” he noted.

The former mayor was speaking to journalist on the sidelines of a press briefing held at AH Hotel in Accra on Thursday, November 2 to introduce investors from the United States of America to the media.
