The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), has disbursed GH? 108,000.00 to persons with disabilities to improve their economic development.

Dr Alfred Oko Vanderpuije, the Accra Metropolitan Chief Executive presented GH? 1,000.00 Ghana cheque to each of the 108 beneficiaries from the two per cent share of the AMA’s Common Fund.

He advised them to use the money for its intended purposes so that they would not be found begging on the streets.

Mr Thomas Mustapha Ashong, the Presiding Member of the Assembly said the AMA would ensure that no disability person would be left out in the programme.

He expressed satisfaction with the interest shown by the beneficiaries.

He said the Social Welfare Department of the Assembly would intensify its education of the physically challenged persons to move away from the streets.

“We will ask our monitoring team to ensure that the beneficiaries are no more found back on the streets of Accra,” he said.
