AMA and AAG inaugurate committee to supervise installation of billboards

The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) in collaboration with Advertisers Association of Ghana (AAG) has inaugurated a seven member technical committee to oversee the installation of billboards to ensure human safety in Accra.

The committee is to mobilize and move into various parts of Accra to remove all fallen billboards and other structures from the streets.

It would also re-examine every billboard in the capital to ensure they are of the international standards, and ensure that no new billboards would be mounted until it is checked and recommended by AMA.

The committee which would also ensure that billboards have insurance policies to cover damages during disaster, is chaired by Mr. Yaw Twumasi Okai and includes Timothy Oman, John Yankah, Francis Dadzie, Joseph Adamah Okine, Teete Owusu Nortey and Martin Osei.

On May 19, Accra was hit by a heavy rainstorm which collapsed many billboards that destroyed many properties and caused threats to human lives.**
