Alleged thief caught selling stolen item

Tema, Jan 07, GNA – An employee of a communication centre who stole a photocopier machine and was caught selling it was on Wednesday remanded by a circuit court at Tema.

Abdul Rasheed Yakubu pleaded not guilty to stealing the photocopier. His accomplice, Barry, is on the run.

Inspector Ben Agbenu told the court that on December 24, last year, a doctor who works at the Tema General Hospital, employed Yakubu to work at his communication centre.

Yakubu and Barry stole the photocopier machine and left the centre. He said on December 27, Yakubu telephoned the doctor and informed him that he was in Libya on his way to Italy, therefore, the complaint should not waste his time to look for him.

Inspector Agbenu said the doctor lodged a complaint at the Community Eight Police Station.

On December 27, Yakubu was seen offering the photocopier for sale and was arrested but Barry run away. The prosecutor said other items stolen from the communication centre were 10 snap cards and four buzz phone cards.
