All set for ‘One District One Factory’ to commence – National Coordinator

The National Coordinator for the one-district-one factory project, one of the flagship programmes of the NPP administration, Gifty Ohene Konadu has stated that all is set for the first phase of the one district one factory to commence in the country.

The funds for the project, she explains is ready with the sod cutting for the first project to take place at Ekumfi Nanabin in the Ekumfi district of the Central region on 24th August this year

The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo during his campaign in the run up to the 2016 elections promised to begin the project in the Ekumfi District in honour of the late Prof. Evans Atta Mills whom he described as a great friend.

Addressing the chiefs and people of the Ekumfi District at Nanabin, the Coordinator for the project expressed appreciation to the chiefs for making available land for the project specifically for a citrus factory.

The factory when completed, she added will provide a ready market for the commodities produced by the farmers meanwhile providing jobs for a minimum of 1500 people in the area.

The Obantan of Ekumfi Nanaben, Nana Donkoh I also thanked the president for making this one district one factory project a reality as it will help address the challenges the people are facing in the area with regards to post-harvest losses and unemployment among the youth.
