All set for 6th NDC National Congress in Koforidua

Koforidua, Dec 21, GNA – Delegates to the 6th National Congress of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at Koforidua have started arriving at the Hotel EREDEC when the Ghana News Agency visited the place at mid-day on Wednesday.

Mr M. M. Doe, the Media Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Branch of the party, said delegates from Upper East, Upper West, Northern regions and some parts of the Eastern and Central regions have already arrived.

Mr Doe said positions to be contested for are Chairman, five Vice Chairmen, a General Secretary, two Deputy General Secretaries, one Organiser, two Deputy Organisers, a Treasurer, a Deputy Treasurer, a Propaganda Secretary and a Deputy Propaganda Secretary. He said apart form the official delegates, a lot of people had arrived from the regions as observers and are prepared to pay for their own boarding and lodging and that the party was helping them to find accommodation.

None of the kno wn contestants for the national executive positions could be seen around and some people were seen putting up posters of the contestants along the road leading to Hotel EREDEC. There were banners and miniature NDC party flags flying on street light posts.

At the Hotel, the main hall has been arranged for the congress and some officials of the Ghana Telecom were around helping the radio stations to prepare their stands for live broadcast of the congress on Thursday. 21 Dec 05
