Accra, Sept. 24, GNA – The Ghana Education Service (GES) together with heads of second cycle institutions would work out modalities to ensure that all candidates with aggregate six to 30 get admission this year.
Mr Paul Kofi Krampa, Public Relations Officer of GES, told the Ghana News Agency that candidates who failed to get admission into any of their three choices would be absorbed into institutions that still had vacancies through a formula.
He said the onus, however, lay with parents not to allow their wards to influence them about their wishes so as to be able accept postings to other equally good schools.
Mr Krampa said the notion of getting admission into the traditional “good schools” should not deceive parents and students into thinking that the situation had remained so because other institutions had in recent times performed either equally well or much better.
He announced that the GES had directed Senior Secondary Schools (SSS) that have the capacity to admit more than the 500 quota to do so. Such schools, he said, would be allowed after Regional and District Education Directors had conducted inspections of schools that would apply to admit more than the required intake.
Mr Krampa, said the decision basically was to prevent congestion in classrooms and dormitories to promote quality and an effective learning environment for the students.
