The All Nations University College (ANUC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) of the United States of America to collaborate in climate research and the assessment of air quality.
Under the MOU, NASA is expected to install equipment that would enable students of the University and researchers the opportunity to collaborate with world renowned researchers at NASA and around the world.
This was announced by the President of the University, The Reverend (Rev.) Dr Samuel Donkor at this year’s matriculation at Koforidua.
He said the University was the first institution in Sub-Saharan Africa to establish the first amateur ground station for research into space science and satellite technology.
Dr Donkor said in May 2013, the University made history by being the first university in Sub –Saharan Africa to design , build and launch a miniature educational satellite, and that in December last year, the ground station of the University was able to make contact with the International Space Station.
He said the University aimed at delivering a world class educational system to produce graduates who could transform the African continent from low levels of production to a level that Africa could pride itself as being a continent rich in human and natural resources.
The President urged the students to challenge themselves to reach as high as possible on the academic ladder and provide the required leadership to the society.
He further urged them to take responsibility for their successes, happiness and mistakes.
