Alien Nana Agyemang unfit to criticise me – Appiah

Recently fired coach of Ghana’s senior national team (Black Stars), Kwesi Appiah, has slammed and branded football analyst and coach, Nana Kwaku Agyemang, as an alien whose criticism of his (Appiah’s) coaching skills, is borne out of Agyemang’s ignorance about the game in Ghana.

Appiah, who was relieved of his job by the Ghana Football Association Friday told Metro TV’s Good Evening Ghana programme Tuesday that he has no problem being criticised by Ghanaians but has every problem being criticised by an alien.

He has therefore told the former Eleven Wise coach to stay off his back.

“He is a foreigner and so he should talk about Hearts of Oak and Kotoko. Speaking on club issues are fine but he should not go to the extent of talking about our national teams. We have suffered for the national teams from our youth until now”, Appiah told Paul Adom Otchere.

“So, if a Ghanaian is criticising me or talking about my knowledge, I have no problems with that but it should not be a foreigner who has bought a name ‘Nana Agyemang’ to criticise me”, Appiah added.

A pained Appiah emphasised that: “You know, the most important thing is how you perform when you are given a job. Fine, he may think that I am not performing well but at the end of the day, you allow people to talk about what you have done so far. I do not want to attack him because he keeps getting on my nerves. I believe that Ghanaians should talk about Ghanaian football. Ghana is for Ghanaians and we talk about our national teams”.

The soft-spoken coach said he is yet to be served an exit letter by the GFA and will join his family afterwards. The GFA is in talks with Serbian coach Milovan Rajevac to take over the stars’ coaching job again.
