Alhaji Short to contest for NPP National Chairman

Current Upper West Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alhaji Abubakari Abdul Rahman affectionately called Alhaji Short will be contesting as National Chairman of the elephant party.

The dean of NPP Regional Chairman, earlier this week was in the Upper East Region to hold stakeholder consultations with founding fathers of the party after similar meetings in other regions.

Alhaji Short has been Regional Chairman for three consecutive times and was recently credited for moving the Upper West Region which won no parliamentary seat in 2012 to the current 4.

He is a product from the University of Cape Coast in Ghana and the Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management, Salzburg in Germany.

Meanwhile, sources indicate that the race for the topmost position of the party is straight fight between him and Stephen Ntim who will be making his third attempt after losing out to the late Jake Otanka Obetsebi Lamptey and Paul Awentami Afoko during the past National Delegates Congresses.

It is gathered that current acting National Chairman, Mr Freddie Blay is also eyeing the position along two others who are yet to make their intentions public.

The NPP is yet to officially announce a date for its National Delegate Congress to elect new officers to steer the affairs of the party for another four years.
