Alhaji Inusah To Defect Again?

When he parted ways with the party he had served for over four decades, many observers of the political terrain could not fathom what informed his decision, and even described the defection a political suicide.

It was even reported that the move did not go down well with his wife but this he denied in a subsequent publication. Alhaji Inusah Issaka, was one of the leaders of the New Patriotic Party who criss-crossed the country with his buddy, then presidential candidate, Kufour. But just before the 2000 election, he defected to the National Democratic Congress, NDC, citing dissatisfaction with certain issues within the party.

After making the front pages for a while since that fateful move, he became a fort of political recluse. With no visible links with the NDC, whose founding father lavished him with his usual ‘man of integrity’ accolade, it seems Alhaji Inusah is up to something again which would surely offer food for the thought of political commentators.

Some would explain, after all, we are in a democracy and the man has the right to belong to any political association of his choice. When our man met him at an Islamic social function at Alajo on Thursday, he did not exhibit the usual shyness for the press, common with many. He was part of the congregation which had assembled to offer prayers for the soul of the late Hajia Adiza Abrewa, the NPP chairperson for the Alajo area, a further evidence of his long standing links with a party, he can confidently claim he took active part in building.

As he exchange pleasantries with former Chief Inspector Mohammed Alidu, also a staunch NPP now, he was asked to pose for a picture with the former cadre, which he obliged amid laughter, but unfortunately, it was a joke as there was no camera available. He told our reporter that” it is time to shift”, adding that he is going to talk to us on what he means by this statement. It is believed that Alhaji Inusah is set to make another political move, like denouncing his membership of the NDC.
