Alhaji Abubakari Sumani retain seat

Tamale (N/R), Dec. 8, GNA – Alhaji Abukari Sumani, 58, and a Legal Practitioner has won the Tamale North Constituency on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Official results from the Electoral Commission showed that Alhaji Sumani won the seat with 19,648 votes.

Alhaji Sumani is the sitting Member of Parliament for the constituency.

Dr Abdel-Majeed Haroun, a 52-year old consultant who contest the seat on the ticket of the NPP, polled 9,411 votes, while Emelia Afua Awuni, a 52 -year- old teacher who stood on the ticket of PNC had 282 votes.

The CPP candidate Mr Basharu Alhassan Daballi, a 40-year-old Broadcaster polled 127 votes.

On Presidential, Prof. John Atta Mills, the NDC Presidential candidate won in the Tamale North Constituency with 40,086 votes. President J.A. Kuffuor of NPP polled 10,245 votes in the context. Dr Edward Mahama of the Grand Coalition, had 1,066 votes while the CPP candidate, George Agudey polled 353 votes.
