Alavanyo Youth appeals President Mahama

The Alavanyo Youth Association on Tuesday appealed to President John Dramani Mahama to personally intervene in the protracted Alavanyo – Nkonya crisis.

The Association said the chief and people are losing trust in the Regional Security Council (REGSEC).

The group led by Mr Kodzo Homenya, at a Press conference in Accra expressed concern about recent developments in the area which according to the AYA is threatening the peaceful co- existence of the people.

Mr Homenya said about twenty people have been killed so far since the conflict started in 1983.

He said the recent killing of two people in December 2012, and March 2013, as well as the killing of a linguist has increased tension.

He therefore called on the government to intervene immediately
