Alavanyo/Nkonya clashes: Togbe Afede calls for calm

The Agbogbomefia of the Asogli traditional area and President of the Volta regional House of Chiefs, Togbe Afede XIV has once again appealed to the feuding factions in the Alavanyo and Nkonya communal conflict to exercise restraint and give peace a chance.

The age-old land dispute between the two traditional areas has led to the loss of lives and properties at both sides.

The latest was the shooting of two persons on their farm in Alavanyo last Friday resulting in the death one person.

Speaking at the 45th Godigbe festival of the Chiefs and people of Aflao traditional area on Saturday, Togbe Afede said the recurrence of the conflict betrays the numerous efforts being made by all stakeholders including the house of Chiefs to seek resolution of the dispute.

He however assured that the house of chiefs will continue its efforts to ensure peaceful mediation.
