Alan was preaching instead of politicking – Gen. Mosquito

Johnson Asiedu Nketia, also known as General Mosquito, the Chief Scribe of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has disclosed that he was not surprised at the turn out of events in the opposition New Patriotic Party’s (NPP’s) flagbearership Contest.

To him, Alan Kyerematen who was always touted to be Nana Akufo-Addo’s biggest contender had no chance because “he was preaching instead of politicking”.

“..what cost Alan was the fact that he resigned from the party in the past. Also, he was not convincing because he was always appealing to floating voters who were not part of the NPP delegates. How can you leave your core voters and go after floating voters? It’s like going after that one lost sheep, leaving behind the rest of the flock.

“..what would you do if the rest disperse before you get back? If you go through a primaries concentrating on floating voters, why would you not rather stand as an independent candidate?” General Mosquito questioned on OKAY FM’s Ade Akye Abia programme.

He made these statements during an analysis of the outcome of the Presidential candidate contest of the NPP, which saw Nana Akufo-Addo gunning over 94% of the total votes cast.

Alan Kyerematen managed only 4% of the total votes cast, with Addai Nimo getting only 0.91%.

“He must be seen to be very active in the party. His future in the party would depend on that,” he opined.
