Al-Azhar University Donates to Muslims

The Al-azhar University of Egypt yesterday donated two cheques to the Al-azhar Association of Ghana and Muslim community of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) at the Egyptian Ambassador’s residence in Accra.

The Al-azhar Association of Ghana received $1,920, while KNUST Muslims received $950.

Presenting the cheques on behalf of the University, the Egyptian Ambassador, Mr. Moneim Talaat, said the money should go to improve the welfare of the two groups.

The chairman of the Al-azhar Association, Alhaji Saleh Said Sinare said the money would go towards stocking their library and to begin a school project.

The president of the KNUST Muslim community, Dr. Yakubu Seidu Peligah, said they are putting up a mosque at the University, estimated at ?1.3 billion. He called on other benevolent groups to come to their aid.
