THE EMBASSY of the People?s Republic of China has kindly donated, through the MP, a set of computer and accessories complete with a colour printer, etc., valued at more than ?15 million to the Akyem Sekyere SDA senior secondary school to assist in the teaching, administration and the general management of the school, at a short ceremony in Accra.
This was in response to a special appeal made by the Member of Parliament from Atiwa constituency, Dr Yaw Brempong-Yeboah, on behalf of the school. The MP also cunningly added one set of a non-functional computer, complete with a keyboard, monitor, etc, which, he hoped, the students could touch, feel, dismantle and reassemble, while learning about what a computer and its parts really stand for.
?A lot of the students there have never before had such an opportunity? he conceded, and, therefore, hoped this would excite the students to learn harder.
Receiving the items, the assistant headmaster of the school, thanked the Ambassador and his team for the kindness, and hoped that they would find time soon to visit the school, to appreciate the efforts being put in to educate the students under very severe and trying circumstances.
He called on the natives of the area, especially, and people in a position to do so, to assist budding schools in the deprived areas such as the Akyem Sekyere SSS, since he believed, the students, when given the right learning environment, could perform creditably well as others in the endowed schools anywhere.
