Akwatia Ladies and Gentlemen club donate to St Dominic Hospital

Akwatia (E/R), Nov. 17, GNA – As part of their 10th anniversary celebration, members of the Akwatia Ladies and Gentlemen club – a benevolent society, on Wednesday donated food items valued at over 3.6 million cedis to the Saint Dominic Hospital at Akwatia.

The items included fruits and provisions, bags of rice, toiletries, crates of soft drinks, eggs, soaps and detergents.

Presenting the items, Ms Ellen Adwoa Owusuaa, president of the club, said it was their contribution to supplement government efforts in feeding the inmates, especially HIV/AIDS patients.

She said the club was also sponsoring 20 Primary and JSS pupils in the area for the next six years by paying their school fees and providing them with school uniforms.

Ms Owusuaa spoke of further plans by the club to provide adequate care and support for the aged in the town.

The Hospital Administrator, Mr Patrick Owusu Bonsu, who received the items, thanked the club and appealed to other benevolent societies to emulate its gesture.

He gave the assurance that the items would be given solely to the inmates.
