Akufo-Addo’s DCE nominee rejected for the third time in Ada East

Sarah Pobee has not been fortunate in attempts to be endorsed as the District Chief Executive for Ada East District Assembly as she has again failed to secure two-thirds of votes from members.

On Wednesday, when she came up again for voting, Ms Pobee polled 19 out of a total of 36 votes, representing 52 per cent. This was the same number of votes she polled in the previous elections though she was absent during the second voting. Reporting from Ada East, Media General’s Josephine Frempong said the voting was peaceful.

She said there was heavy police presence at the venue. “Many are disappointed,” she summed up the mood at the Assembly’s hall – most especially the nominee’s. As per the constitution, Ms Pobee has another chance – within 10 days – to appear before the Assembly for another round of voting.
