Akufo-Addo’s Bawumia selection an error

Political scientist, Kwasi Jonah has criticized NPP presidential aspirant, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo over his early selection of Dr. Mahmoud Bawumia as his running mate for the 2016 general elections.

“The mere question is; is this the right time to make such an announcement? I don’t think so” Dr. Jonah told Starr News in an interview.

Nana Addo made the announcement during his tour of the Upper West region Monday.

The economist would partner the former Attorney General for the third time if he is given the nod at the National delegates congress to be held on October 18.

Speaking to Starr News, Dr. Jonah said Nana Addo erred in making the announcement before the party’s congress.

According to him, Nana Addo’s announcement can spark tension within the NPP.

“At the moment there are so many internal conflicts within the party which would have to be resolved before a running mate is announced.

“Dr. Bawumia is a very good candidate but this is not the right time to announce a running mate,” Dr. Jonah added.
