Akufo-Addo’s all-die-be-die militants unmasked

—Laud Commey leads the Jericho Patriot Movement

In anticipation of losing the 2012 elections, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo, has put together a militant group known as Jericho Patriot Movement to be headed by the former national organizer of the party, Mr Laud Commey. The main agenda of this group is to cause mayhem before, during and after the 2012 general elections. They held their first meeting at Crystal Hotel in Tesano, in the Okaikoi South Constituency in Accra last Tuesday. It was addressed by Nana Akufo-Addo, and it was basically to cause mayhem in the 2012 general elections.

In attendance were all the greater Accra constituency chairmen of the NPP, and the national chairman.

The Tuesday meeting begun around dusk, and ended in the wee hours of Wednesday. The “Jericho Patriot Movement ” is made up of mainly the remnants of Guillaume Soro’s Former New Forces rebel group that took up arms against former President Gbagbo of Ivory Coast.

The True Statesman has learned that the meeting was centered mainly on how the militants would help cause confusion during the coming election which the NPP is sure of loosing. Nana Akufo-Addo mentioned, among other things at the meeting, that a power-sharing government with the NDC may be formed if they work hard.

It is the phase one of executing his “all-die-be die” election agenda.

The NPP anticipates that if it succeeds in causing commotion in the country during and after the election, the NDC will be forced to accept the power-sharing idea.

It has also been confirmed to The True Statesman that the NPP leadership is recruiting some local thugs from parts of the country to join the already known NPP Militant group christened “The Bamba boys”. The Ghana Police Service is not treating the matter lightly. Sources within the police headquarters in Accra have hinted The True Statesman that they are on top of the issue, and are monitoring events with “eagle eyes”.

It will be recalled that Nana Akufo-Addo declared “all-die-be-die” war cry ahead of the 2012 general elections, implying that the NPP will use all means possible to win power. He had previously warned that if the results of this year’s election do not favour him and the NPP, the party would ensure that Ghana suffers violence.

The “all-die-be-die” rant reduced Nana Akufo- Addo from a viable alternative to the Mills-led government to a desperate loser seeking to appeal to the worse instinct of Ghanaians. It is, therefore, no wonder that Nana Akufo- Addo has turned to Ivorian and Burkinabe militants for action.
