Akufo-Addo warns against rigging in 2016

The 2016 flagbearer of the main opposition New Patriotic Party Nana Akufo-Addo has served notice that the party will not tolerate rigging in the 2016 elections.

“Anybody who has decided to steal votes in the upcoming election, I plead with you; please take that idea off your head.

“We need to have a clean and transparent election. I have confidence and trust in God that if the elections are held in a transparent atmosphere, I will emerge victorious,” the former attorney general told a charged crowd of NPP supporters Sunday.

Disputes over the 2012 elections led to eight months long hearing of an election petition at the Supreme Court.

Akufo-Addo will be representing the NPP for the 3rd consecutive time in the December 2016 elections after losing both the 2008 and 2012 elections.

He has retained his running mate for both elections, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, who was a former deputy governor of the Bank of Ghana.
