Akufo-Addo visits President Faure Gnasingbe

Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, MP, last Friday, 8th February 2008, paid a visit to the President of the Republic of Togo, His Excellency Faure Gnasingbe at the Presidential Palace in Lome, Togo.

The visit was to enable Nana Akufo-Addo introduce himself formally as his party?s Presidential Candidate and also to discuss matters of common interest affecting the good relations between Ghana and Togo and the development of the West African region.

The visit to the Togolese President is the beginning of a series of consultations that Nana Akufo-Addo hopes to hold with other leaders of our neighbouring countries, the region and the wider continent.

Speaking to the Togolese media after the meeting, Nana Akufo-Addo said the meeting went well and that he hoped it would serve to deepen cooperation between political players in the region.

He indicated that President J. A. Kufuor had been informed of the visit before the President?s departure to Rome, Italy.

Nana Akufo-Addo was accompanied by the Hon. Albert Kan Dapaah, MP for Efigya-Sekyere East and Minister for Defence, who is a good friend of President Gnasingbe, Yaw Amankwa, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, Victor Newman, Head of Research in the office of the candidate, Mustapha Hamid, the candidate?s spokesperson, and his special assistant, Yaw Amfo-Kwakye.

The delegation has since returned home.
